About Barchart Market Pages

Market Pages are flexible page layouts that give you the ability to drop in customizable market content on a web page that you design. You can create as many Market Pages as you wish, and display them right from your Barchart account.

Market Pages are easy to create, and easy to change on-the-fly. You get to choose the type of "content blocks" to drop onto the page, and you get to specify the symbols, fields, and all other settings used to display the content!

We've assembled a number of short videos to show you how to create your own Market Pages, and to introduce you to many of the features available for creating your own market data pages.

Creating a New Market Page

Each market page starts with a general layout, or a "framework" for you to drop in whatever market content you desire. Choose from:

a Blank template (1-2-3- or 4-columns) with an optional full-width "header" area. A blank template simply divides the web page into sections, allowing you to drop market data blocks into any of the areas.
a Predefined template page. Barchart has formatted a few sample pages for you to get started. You can select one of these templates, then modify the symbols, add or delete more content blocks, or move the content in any way you wish.

Add Content to Your Market Page

Once you've set the framework for the page, click the "Add Content" link at the top right corner of the page.

Choose the type of market data you want to add. Choices include Chart, News Headlines, Opinion, Portfolio, Quoteboard, Quote/Chart Combo, Single Quote, Support & Resistance, Scrolling Ticker, Weather.
Select a position on the page in which to drop the content.
Depending on the type of market data you selected, you may be prompted to add symbols, choose fields to display, etc.

Move, Collapse/Expand, or Delete Content

Each content block that you place on your Market Page can be moved to another content block simply by dragging and dropping it. (Just GRAB it by the header bar.)

Use the Collapse/Expand icon (at the top LEFT of the block's header bar) to collapse or expand the content.

Click the Delete icon (at the top RIGHT of the block's header bar) to remove the content completely from the page.

Problems with Your Page Layout?

Sometimes, you may add content to a column and the column isn't wide enough to display all of the data. The only way to fit the content on your Market Page, then, is to add a horizonatal scroll bar to the block. This type of layout may or may not be desirable for you.

If the content blocks you've selected for your Market Page don't fit, we will let you know! (We even give you a tool to show you the blocks that aren't fitting.) You have a number of options:

Ignore the warning - scroll bars are acceptable for the page you've designed.

Move the block to a wider column. (This applies only if you have a wider column or a header section available, based on your page layout.)
Change the data displayed in content block to fit in the current layout. For example, you've added a quoteboard with too many columns to display in the space provided. (Click the "configure" icon, then remove some of the fields until the content fits.)
Change the layout of the page, then move the content block to a wider column. (Go from a 3-column layout to a 2-column layout, or add a full-width header section.)
Delete the content block
