    Latest Brugler Corn Report

    -More Brugler Reports

Corn futures ended the day barely mixed with the front month a fraction higher and new crop slightly lower ahead of tomorrow’s USDA reports. A Reuter’s survey showed analysts expect farmers to plant 94.2 million acres of corn, the most acreage since 1944 and think USDA could also decrease ending stocks. Traders expect ending stocks will be about 797 million bushels at the end of the marketing year, which if realized would drop the stocks to use ration to 6.3%. Corn stocks at select export elevators and terminals were down 734 thousand bushels from the previous week. Traders estimate tomorrow’s export sales will be between 800 and 1,300 thousand MT. World demand for corn is strong and stocks are tight in the U.S., the number one exporter of corn. South America has commanded more market share in the past several years but drought affected supplies could return some of that business to the U.S. Cash corn basis levels were steady in the Midwest but lower at ethanol plants. Ethanol stocks were up .5 million barrels from the previous week with ethanol futures up .013 cents a gallon.

Mar 12 Corn closed at $6.42 1/2, up 1/4 cent,
May 12 Corn closed at $6.48, down 1/2 cent,
Jul 12 Corn closed at $6.52 1/4, down 1/4 cent
    Dec 12 Corn closed at $5.73 1/2, down 1 3/4 cents
